Plato

Plato was a greek philosopher and scolar born somehwhere around 400 BCE. 

 

He devoted his life and learning to his teacher Socrates and then to his most famous student, Aristotle. 

 

He inspired others to study mathematics and because of that is known as the "maker of mathematics" due to his devotion to the field. 

 

 

He believed that geometry was the key to unlocking the secrets of the world and he is known for relating geometry in real life situations as well as spotting the benefits of the practice. 

 

He is well known for his studies on the platonic solids, gratefully named after him. He believed that similar to his theory about geometry and the universe, that the platonic solids each had a meaning behind them that related to an element here on earth.
