Rene Descartes

GENIUS
INVENTOR
AND
CREATOR

I think therefore I am - Rene Descartes

Rene Descartes: the Great Man

Rene Descartes was a French philosopher, scientist and mathematician. He lived during the 16th century and is still a prominent name in math studies all over the world.

One of his greatest acomplishments is the Cartesian coordinate system. This system is a coordinate plane that specifies reference a place for every point using two numbers to define their spot (x,y). He used the center of the coordinate of the plane to be a starting point for all numbers (0,0) and his logic on the whole system was impecable. This coordinate plane is still the one we use today to graph lines, shapes, slopes and more.

Rene is also the father of analytical geometry which is known as the bridge between algebra, and geometry.

As one of the key figures of the scientific revolution, he is extremely influencial in our modern math system.

What made him genius is that he used the principles of algebra to explain all discoveries he was trying to make in geometry, while still showing the importance of these two studies at the time.

He also worked on the basis of calculus and all around made math a more respected and well rounded topic and that's why we thank and are greatful for Descartes
